A pre-Thanksgiving thank you
I write a lot of snarky shit on here because, well, the business world is just so darn snark-worthy sometimes. But, one thing I think we often forget is how fortunate many of us are to work at jobs that place value in our thinking and creativity, allowing us to work in relative comfort. And this year, I’ve felt especially grateful to have a job that allows me to work from home and spend more time with my wife and our two cats. So many are struggling right now, particularly those who work jobs that don’t offer the luxury of home-based work. Those people are often the most vulnerable to job loss and are facing the reality of COVID every day as front line and essential workers. We can get so caught up with the world inside our bubble that we think what we do is of life and death importance. It very rarely is. And hence, the snark I like to serve up to those who take themselves way too seriously. Meanwhile, millions of people actually face real risk and genuine hardship every day. I’d like to offer a 100% snark-free thank you to those who are busting their butts to keep everything moving smoothly and safely. I truly am grateful. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
